Artist Statement
My art is about beauty but also love. I believe the two are intertwined such that one does not exist without the other. My artistic mission is to share the beauty that I find and thereby spread love in the world. I have always photographed things that I thought were beautiful. This started out as mostly things from nature. Then I got more interested in finding beauty in places where one does not usually expect it. Now I am more interested in going beyond photography to create works of art that are uniquely mine. I employ digital craft and special printing techniques to achieve this. I am a photographer because I use cameras to capture photographic images, but I call my work “photo art” rather than photography because it is much more than simply photographs. Most of my current work is a blending of multiple images in my computer that creates pieces that are more like abstract paintings than what is usually thought of as photography.
Spring
This is a blend of five different images of spring, mostly flowers. One of the images was printed on a piece of fabric which I scanned and enlarged.

Swans
I shot the picture of the swans in England over twenty years ago. A few years later I made a print of it with the photo paper covered by a piece of wax paper during the exposure. I recently scanned that old print, layered it with three images of reflections on water and got this.

North Shore Blur
This is a layering of three blurry images from Lake Superior's North Shore. They were shots that I would have culled in the past. Instead, I combined them to make this.
