Here I am

This is the beginning of this new adventure. I have had the idea in my mind of a mattgillett.com website for some time. Originally I was going to just use the domain to redirect to my Quercus Creations website. That way people could search for me as an artist without knowing the Quercus name. But the idea of having a site where I could write and share my my experiences always appealed to me, so here it is.

I will be putting photos in here, but they are generally shots of things I think are beautiful and not necessarily my normal artwork. The photo here is an example of something that attracted my eye while out for a morning walk. I took this photo because I found the subject to be very appealing, and I knew I could use it in one of my blended pieces. The light is this shot is too drab to make this a great image in itself, but it is still interesting. As it turns out, this image is the foundation for the piece on the home page, Winter No. 1.
